J’ai toujours connu ma grand-mère, Eugénie, comme quelqu’un d’authentique, une conteuse, une bonne vivante, animée d’un esprit positif. Lors de nos rencontres, nous échangeons sur sa vie et plus particulièrement sur la vie rurale dans les Ardennes. Elle me raconte sur le ton de l’humour comment à l’âge de 38 ans elle a perdu progressivement la vue. N’étant pas née à cette époque, j’avais envie d’en savoir davantage. Je découvre ainsi comment elle a fait face à cette perte. Et je me rends compte à quel point son quotidien est organisé en fonction de sa cécité: compter les marches, se repérer à la lumière…
