A l’occasion de son concert pour la ZomBIFF night, nous en avons profiter pour donner Carte Blanche à Philippe Petit !
Deux heures durant, il nous fera découvrir ses musiques, au travers d’extraits de disques parus récemment, dont celui chez Sub Rosa, ainsi que plus d’une heure de sélection à paraître dont nous aurons ainsi la primeur !

« Petite » biographie pour rencontrer notre invité :
Activiste français & résident marseillais pour la diffusion et reconnaissance des musiques rock et expérimentales-autres depuis 27 ans, Philippe Petit est également un « metteur-en-son » hyperactif, avec moultes projets et collaborations. Paticulièrement intéressé par les musiques de films, leurs bande-sonores, il crée une musique fortement originale et peut-être présenté plus comme un “agent de voyage musical” qu’un compositeur. Fortement inspiré par les films noirs, le cinéma expressioniste Allemand d’avant-guerre, ou les ambiances de Lynch ou Shinya Tsukamoto, Petit utilise des tourne-disques et un laptop pour construire de denses couches électroniques, prendre avantage ou “caresser-muter” le matériau vinyl. Il se sert aussi d’une table de bois amplifiée, ainsi que d’un Psalterion Eléctrique.
Le résultat sonne comme une bande son mutante abstraite, comme sortie d’un nanar sombrement grotesque, prenant, dense et au volume sonore par moment sur-conséquent. Textures traitées, “images-sonores” coupées, résonnances, vertigineux travellings de tons, conjuration de flashs de timbres granuleux “en noir et blanc”, close-ups au-delà du son, effets harmoniques-arrêts sur images… Philippe Petit adore être sur scène, un raconteur d’histoire au profond assemblage sonore et à la présence scénique sur-intense : assauts du tourne-disque, ratissage tisonnant des aiguilles sur les grooves des enregistrements, frictions des stylus sur du papier, du carton, du metal, pour des sons inusuels, coups de boules sur les platines, danse et plaisir…
Actif depuis 25 ans en tant que journaliste pour diverses radios et magazines (interviews de monstres comme Nirvana, Fugazi, Pixies, Neurosis, Nick Cave, etc, etc…), Philippe Petit est aussi l’homme derrière les labels cultes Pandemonium Rdz (Melt-Banana, Zeni Geva, Ruins, etc…) et BiP_HOp (Scanner, David Toop et autres fleurons de l’internationale Electronica).
Il joue régulièrement live avec Lydia Lunch ou les mythiques Faust, et a collaboré avec une dream-team hallucinante de personalités aussi diverses que : Foetus, Edward Ka-Spel, Kumo, Scott McCloud (Girls Against Boys), Cosey Fanni Tutti (Throbbing Gristle), My Brightest Diamond, Sybarite, Pantaleimon, Graham Lewis (Wire), Barry Adamson, Scanner, Mira Calix, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Guapo, Leafcutter John, Simon Fisher Turner, Jarboe, etc…
Il est également actif au sein de son formidable et puissant groupe/collectif Strings Of Consciousness.
Une personnalité majeure de la scène musicale française qui signe ses disques sur de multiples labels internationaux et a joué sur plusieurs continents.
